Sometimes I think Abby has too many clothes, and then...

she poops 3 times in one hour and gets all her clothes dirty. That's been our big excitement today - playing dress up to see how many outfits she can wear in an hour. Maybe she's trying to teach me a lesson because I didn't put her in a swaddle for bed last night. I put her in a sleepsack instead. For about a week Abby's been turning herself perpendicular and moving all around the crib at night. We move her back each time, but she continues to turn herself around. It can't feel good to hit your legs and feet on the railing! We thought a sleepsack might help. Last night she didn't move too much, we'll see how long it lasts. Below is Abby as she is waking up perpendicular in the crib with her fists out of her swaddle.

Abby's been doing a good job with belly time and sometimes even seems to like it. She's talking a lot, laughing at Bob, sucking her hand, and holding onto blankets, burp cloths and some of her toys. Here's Abby with her new friend Inchy the Inchworm.

I only have 2 more weeks off work and it's setting in. Today after Abby's mid morning feeding she fell asleep immediately in my arms and started making those wonderful baby moans and faces; and I realized how much I'm going to miss our cuddle time after all of her feedings. Soon her teacher at the daycare will get to enjoy cuddle time too, but I'm feeling a little selfish and would rather keep them to myself. I'm trying not to get to nervous or paranoid about daycare (i.e. think "how will the teacher know how she wants to be held and walked around") until I go and visit and meet the teacher and see how it operates. We'll be visiting the daycare next week, so I'll let you know how it goes.

In the meantime, here are a few more pictures of Abby.

Bob Has More Time to Update Blog

No, I didn't get fired. I'm taking this week off to spend more time with my two favorite girls. Aside from a nice break from work, it allows me to play and take pictures...and subsequently update the blog.

Abby had a big weekend, out all day Sunday visiting friends and family. She had lots of fun, but was exhausted when we got home.

One thing I've been trying to stay on top of is building a cache of enough embarrassing things for the day Abigail begins to date. Unfortunately, the movie camera isn't always handy, but the regular camera is.

When we got home Sunday, this is the face Abby gave us. Normally fairly content in her car seat, she had a deeper thought running through her mind. I started snapping photos, and we were eventually treated with the reason Abby was so focused.

Before Dirtying Diaper

After a noisy explosion (sans her normal grunts and red face), Abby returned to her normal, happy self.

Its the little things that make us so happy!

After Dirtying Diaper

Abby's been grumpy today, wanting to eat a bit more often than we are accustomed. Perhaps she's hitting a growth spurt! Regardless, she always seems comfortable with her Mom.

2-Month Check-Up

On Valentine's Day, we decided a wonderful gift for Abby would be a visit to the Doctor. We learned she weighs 12 lbs 7 oz and is 23 inches tall. She went from tall and skinny at our last check-up to tall and pleasantly plump. Chunking up, Abby Sue!

To reward her efforts in gaining weight, we asked the Doctor for an immunization cocktail. Abby didn't think that was a great idea - and Bob was not very pleased with the experience either. Abby's earth shattering cries landed her in Steph's arms very quickly! Poor Bob is going to be a pushover!

We also learned we need to give her more tummy-time. Oh, how she loves that! While we both believe she is a very advanced baby (e.g. can dance and say, "Grrrrr, umph, wooh!" - babyspeak for "I think we should consider buying a larger house due to the growing amount of stuff I have"), we maybe haven't given her an opportunity to show her push-up prowess.

Abby has also discovered her hand, and apparently it is a tasty treat. Below, Abby ponders the make-up of her snack, "...with just this much milk, this hand would be a taste explosion..."

Video Update Part 2

Last Thursday (2/7/2008), Abigail began sleeping in her crib. While it has been sad that she is no longer in the room with us, she does love her room. This video is in her pre-bath/pre-sleep playtime. She loves her bumblebee mobile!

I think she's got her Dad's dancing abilities...which we all know is how Dad really won Mom over. Abby is so advanced, I wouldn't be surprised if she's doing the Electric Slide at 19 weeks.

You can't feel it.

It's electric.

Boogie woogie woogie...

Video Update Part 1

Several weeks ago, Abigail began talking to us. The only problem is, whenever we turn on the camera she gets shy. We were able to catch some footage, however. I like towards the end as Steph is experiencing camera difficulties - it zooms in on Abby and she gives you a look. Kinda reminds me of "That's all folks!" from Looney Tunes.

6 weeks old

Well, Abby's 6 weeks old - almost 7, and has had an exciting last couple of weeks - she was present at her first party - Auntie Keri's baby shower. She had her first bath in the baby bath tub and actually liked it, for awhile at least. Liking it was over when we let the mesh sling that helped support her body get too cold. I thought the bathtub would be nice to bathe babies, but I soon found out that using the bathtub, I (Steph) got just as wet as Abby did.

Abby even had her first "playdate" with her friends Cayden and Anna. Cayden and Abby laid on the floor looking at each other, drooling and making noises; while Anna ate and slept. Abby's bib is soaked with drool (and some spit up, of course), another new thing she's started.

Abby was lucky to get babysat by both sets of grandparents this week. Abby also played with her Aunt Shelly, Uncle Rob and cousins Jorge and Lucy this week. And the most exciting event of the week - Abby has started sleeping longer stretches at night. She's pretty much been a good night sleeper - sleeping about 4 - 5 hours before she wakes for her first nighttime feeding, but she stepped it up a notch this week - about 7 hours till she wakes for her first feeding! What's weird is that I don't think I'm getting any more sleep because I keep waking up and staying awake at her normal feeding time, just waiting for her to wake up with the desire to eat. Let's hope I stop that soon.
